Why I am no longer trying to "get a job"

We all know the deal. We’ve been here before. A president hyper focused on war leads to a decline of the job market. To some this is not an issue. Job security keeps them safe. However, I am not one of those people.

I think I knew it from an early age. Seeing my dad come home after the 2008 recession crying because he lost millions in stocks. Working my first job at a camp which also led to a considerable amount of crying. Now 15 years later, I’m left with a curse of sorts. Perpetual unemployment. The feeling that I’ll never get a job.

No matter how hard I study, no matter how good my portfolio is. I’ll always be less than that person who thought employment was for them.

I’m now 33, and I thought that doing everything I was told would lead to stable employment. I graduated high school. I went to college and completed my bachelors. I even studied for my masters. And what am I met with? A stale job market that rejects me without blinking.

I seem to be stuck in an age conundrum that perpetuates similar to a chicken and egg scenario. Without experience, you can’t get a job. Without a job you can’t get experience.

Now I counter similar phenomena as modern day influencer entrepreneurs often claim. I did the studying. I did the portfolio in that. I’m still met with the whirlwind of ill-fated interviews. It’s like the initial motive behind the interview was to take my information. Get me to quit. Or mock me.

What started in the beginning as a quest for employment now leads to a bitter taste in the mouth. Like blood after a bit of lip.

I never thought I’d be the person to say this: but maybe work isn’t for me. Maybe showing up every day to report to a boss isn’t worth the salary. Recently, I’ve come across Nicholas Cole in the instructional ghostwriting field. Nicholas talked about ghost writing like dating.

He states: “those who actually have something to say, usually don’t have the time to say it”. If this defines you then reach out through direct message and I can be your ghostwriter.
